We, at Thrift for Good, are absolutely psyched to collaborate with the Beagle - a company with such ingenious and inventive answers to help accelerate the adoption of sustainable shopping practices globally. We firmly believe that this is a stroke of brilliance that will complement the trend of conscious consumerism perfectly to help us bridge the gap between wanting to be sustainable and not knowing how to. Read below to find out more about how businesses are adopting sustainable practices and The Beagle Button!

As the world moves into the adoption stage of sustainability practices, it is important to acknowledge the array of ways in which technology has helped with this transition – from the advent of sustainable cities as models to base larger civilizations on, to cloud computing measures, and more recently a slew of mobile applications that reward users for green decisions, classically conditioning them to be more environmentally responsible.

A highly underrated supplementary technological aid to the above is a chrome extension. A chrome extension, by definition, refers to any software that enhances consumer experience. In today’s article, we are going to talk about one such extension: The Beagle Button. It is a new extension that helps you shop more sustainably online. Whether it’s plastic free, recycled, vegan, ethically sourced or any other of their carefully selected metrics, they will find you recommendations for better alternatives when you shop online. You simply have to download the extension, then carry on shopping as normal as they look through their extensive database of sustainable products to find you better alternatives to the products you view! The extension uses anonymous analytics and is currently in the beta testing phase.

The Beagle also runs a blog on their website that helps to keep consumers up to date with current sustainability practices across the world, while adding to their collection of green companies. The website is colourful, and super easy to navigate; while the extension has a simple, user-friendly interface.

We think that this is an absolutely genius idea to prompt more consumers to shop sustainably. It can be difficult to keep up to date with the latest green online retailers, especially while buying from marketplaces like Amazon – the extension takes care of this problem by sharing a list of other, green retailers who are also selling similar products. If you’re lucky, you might even find something better, or cheaper!

Needless to say, this is not an idea that needs to be sold; not only is it user friendly, but it is also free! The folks at The Beagle Button have been hard at work to ensure that both the extension and the database are growing efficiently and are soon available for public use. Head on over to their website to find out more.
