This Ramadan, Thrift For Good and Times Square Center are collecting and selling clothing, bags, shoes, accessories and books to raise funds for the 14,000 children in Malawi under the care of the Sparkle Foundation.
This month, we celebrate Ramadan, the holy month of giving, reflection and community.
Thrift For Good and Times Square Center are partnering to offer a new way you can give to children in need. Thrift For Good is the UAE’s most loved charity thrift store with two locations in Times Square Center and the Golden Mile Galleria Building 8 on the Palm Jumeirah, as well as an online shop.
You can give Thrift For Good your preloved clothing, shoes, bags, accessories and books of any condition to be resold in their stores. We, Thrift For Good, donate 100% of the profits from this to children around the world through the local non-profit, Gulf for Good. For this campaign, the beneficiary will be The Sparkle Foundation in Malawi.
The project is to purchase the “Sparkle Farm” land which will be used to secure two daily meals to children in Malawi, lowering the Sparkle Foundation’s food costs. Also, the land will be built into the curriculum for the children in their care, so farming can be learned as a life skill – a staple in the Malawian economy and work force.
From 3pm to 8pm every day April 8th until May 2nd , during the month of Ramadan, Times Square Center and Thrift for Good are having a collection drop point available on the ground floor of Times Square Center. The goal is to
collect 1000kg of preloved clothing, shoes, bags, accessories and books, which will convert to the required funds needing to purchase this farmland.
The public launch of this initiative was on April 8th at 3pm, in partnership with the Rotaract Club. Nancy Nese Ozbek, the General Manager of Times Square Center, Jennifer Sault, the Founder of Thrift For Good and Sparkle Foundation's very own Muayi, spoke to inaugurate this campaign.
Members from the public are welcome to drop off their preloved items, to give to children in need throughout Ramadan.
