Unearthing Hidden Treasures!

Sarah is a volunteer for Thrift for Good helping with blogging, sorting donations, steaming and more! Sarah has been a Dubai resident for just over a year and has loved finding new ways to make her fashion habit more sustainable.

As a recent addition to the Thrift for Good (TFG) volunteer team I have been assisting with a variety of tasks from helping with office admin, steaming clothes for pop up boutiques and sorting through generous donations of clothes for the TFG website. As a self-confessed fashion lover volunteering for Thrift for Good has opened my eyes to the excitement of thrifting and how we can buy and sell the clothes we already have to live a more sustainable life.

At TFG donations are collected on a weekly basis and sorted by the volunteer team before being washed and carefully sealed. Due to COVID-19 deliveries are not then made for another 24 hours to ensure the parcel is safe. Last week a small volunteer team gathered to open and sort another fabulous collection of donations. Amongst all the donations we opened a box of designer delights! We found gems such as a Chloe jacket, an Armani suit, a Roberto Cavalli dress and a Chanel handbag - yes that’s a Chanel handbag! Whilst all of our donations are wonderful and need a home it was incredibly heartwarming to see that one of our donors had given away such high value items for thrifting.

As a special event TFG are holding an auction of a unique collection of items to raise money for children around the world, with the above items included. We are also holding an Instagram Live event on Saturday 25th July at 5pm (GST) - MC'ed by Habiba Basiony  and hosted by Yoga La Vie so you can find more out about the items up for auction! By bidding for items you are helping to raise money and you may just end up with a new treasured item in your wardrobe. Happy bidding and keep thrifting!
