Full Time Team Leaders

Thrift For Good is a social enterprise focused on rehoming preloved items to reduce waste and help children around the world in partnership with Gulf for Good. We do this through selling second-hand clothing, shoes and books in our store, on Palm Jumeriah, we are currently working towards opening our second store in Times Square to further our business, and raise money for the children’s projects we support through Gulf for Good.

We are looking to hire Team Leaders to assist with the daily operations of our retail business, a larger part of this role will be leading our team of dedicated volunteers in many tasks needed to help us be successful in raising funds to support our projects.

Job Role/ Responsibilities:

  • Identify and manage tasks required to keep volunteers engaged and feeling their time is of value; tasks are given based on their strengths and comfort level,
  • Have confidence when asking volunteers and colleagues to perform tasks and the reasons why these are important to the success of TfG,
  • Provide a high standard of customer service at all times to volunteers, customers and donors alike,
  • Keep the store floor well stocked with items, that pass the TfG quality check guidelines,
  • Ensure all items on the floor are priced in line with our pricing schedule and/or have undergone the appropriate discounting,
  • Be able to undertake tasks that require attention such as steaming or sorting clothes, whilst empowering volunteers to take on a more customer focused role,
  • Update merchandise to stay in line with most recent VM Guidelines,
  • Create a friendly and welcoming atmosphere in the store and stockroom during your shift,
  • Reconcile POS at the end of a shift,
  • Take part in activations out with the store, such as pop-up events and flea markets,

Benefits:

  • Two days off per week, schedule will try to provide consecutively, but may be split, dependent on business needs,
  • 40 hours per week,
  • 22 days holiday per year, (plus national holidays),
  • Ticket to home country after 2 years, then every 1 year thereafter,
  • We are hiring day time and afternoon/evening managers, for any consistent time between 6:30am and 12am. Shifts won’t exceed 9 hours, with 1 for breaking

Requirements:

  • Excellent English and communication skills
  • Confidence in your ability to lead a team to success,
  • A friendly and amicable persona to get along in an ever-changing team of volunteers, colleagues, doners and customers,
  • Fit and able, physical tasks will be required such as lifting boxes, steaming clothes, moving stock and longer periods of time spent on your feet,
  • An appreciation of fashion, and the importance of sustainable shopping,
  • Previous management and/or retail experience preferred

Salary expectation: AED5000 per month

FULL TIME DRIVER AND STOCK ASSISTANT

We are looking to hire a driver to assist with the daily logistics of our retail business, a larger part of this role will be heavy lifting, loading and unloading a van.

Job Role/ Responsibilities:

  • Picking up designated stock, and moving between retail locations,
  • Respect mall and storage facility delivery/collection windows,
  • Assist with the set up of Pop-Up, Market and publicity events, with moving inventory and required materials, rails, racks etc,
  • Making deliveries & collections to/from business partners,
  • Keeping up-to-date with vehicle service requirements, Salik usage, RTA annual registrations, reporting any faults experienced whilst driving, and scheduling the required appointments for this,
  • During periods of lesser workload, you will be required to assist with BOH activities in our stores such as, preparing stock for sale, cleaning and tidying the BOH areas and supporting the retail team
  • Run errands
  • Other work as needed by the team

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Driver,
  • A valid driver’s license (UAE), must be able to drive manual,
  • A clean driving record,
  • Familiarity with GPS devices,
  • Knowledge of area roads and neighborhoods in and around Dubai,
  • Ability to lift heavy packages and luggage, good health,
  • Availability to take weekend and night shifts,
  • A polite and professional disposition,
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful driving situations (e.g. at rush hour),
  • A good command of the English language,
  • Own visa would be an advantage, but one can be provided,
  • Ability to schedule own workload to meet business needs,

Salary expectation: AED2500/month
